Write both sides, change names, photos and times, then save a PNG or record an MP4 where the messages come in one by one.

You pick an app like iMessage, WhatsApp, Instagram or ChatGPT, write both sides of the chat, change the names, photos and times, and save it as a picture. Chats can also be saved as an MP4 where the messages pop in one at a time, which is what most text story videos on TikTok use.
A lot of apps that do this put basic stuff like a profile photo or a third person behind a weekly subscription. In Mimicly you can open and edit every template without an account. Exports without Pro have a small watermark, signing in gives you two without it, and Pro is $3.99 a month or $32.99 once in the US. There's no weekly plan.
Right now there are 73 templates: messaging apps, AI chats, posts, comments, email, calls, the lock screen and a few game chats. It's on iPhone, and there's a web editor at mimicly.net.
