Milometry: Automatic mileage log. Pay once, no account, no cloud.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Liam, and I built Milometry. It started as a mileage log for myself. Every tracker I tried either rented the app to me by the month or wanted an account and a copy of everywhere I had driven on their server. For something I only need at tax time, neither felt right. So Milometry is bought once, has no account and no server, and keeps trips, routes, fill-ups and receipts in the phone's own storage. Nothing leaves unless you export it yourself. The hard part was making it start without you. Drive away from where you parked and it notices, records the journey, and closes it when you have been still for a few minutes. Getting that to work reliably on real phones, especially on Android where the OS is built to defer exactly this kind of background work, took most of the effort. If it ever misses a drive, it finds the gap between the ones it did record and offers it back to you, so there is no hole in the log you only discover in April. It began as a UK app, but the same problem exists everywhere with a mileage rate. Rules for 12 countries are built in (IRS, HMRC, CRA, ATO, Belastingdienst and more) and you can set your own rate or your employer's anywhere else. It reads in six languages. New drives arrive as a deck of cards with the route on a map: swipe right for business, left for personal. Name the office once and drives there sort themselves. Fill-ups give you real fuel economy rather than the brochure figure, and parking and tolls attach to the journey with a photo of the receipt. Recent additions: CarPlay, so plugging in starts recording, and a check that can tell a train or a bus from a car, because the 07:42 sets off from the station exactly like a car does.
