Hi Product Hunt!
Mewie is a tiny pixel cat who lives over your Mac desktop: she loafs when you're deep in work, drums along when you type fast, asks for a stretch now and then, guards your late-night sessions, and since this week, occasionally stalks a butterfly across your screen (she misses, then grooms like she meant to).
Three things I decided early and won't change:
She is never louder than the work. No sounds, no notifications, no chat bubbles begging for attention. She's company, not a coworker who talks.
Your work stays on your Mac. She reacts to rhythm (cursor, focus, typing tempo), never content. She can't read your text, code, or screenshots, and nothing about your work leaves your machine. The privacy page lists the only two things that do: license checks and update checks.
Pay once. 7-day free trial with no account and no card, then 9.99$ and she's yours. Not a subscription. Never will be.
Almost everything she does was voted on or suggested by early users at r/mewie: the zoomies, the butterfly, the midnight guardian, the funny faces. If she's missing a behavior your cat has, tell me and there's a decent chance I ship it within the week. That's the fun of being one person with one cat.
Happy to answer anything!

honestly the cursor hunting thing is adorable but maybe add a little nap schedule option so she gets sleepy around a set time and refuses to play for a bit, kind of like a gentle reminder to step away from the screen

@eyupk60283 Love this. She can already nap (tuck her in from the paw menu) and there are Quiet Hours in the settings, but scheduled sleepiness where Mewie refuses to play until she has had her rest, that is a lovely twist. Going on the list. A cat that guilt trips you into taking breaks with her feels very on brand!

that silent by design choice is genuinely brilliant. a tiny desktop pet that doesn't demand attention feels like exactly the kind of restraint most apps never manage. the pay once model seals it.

@yavuzwrpt Thank you! Silent was one of the very first decisions. Mewie is supposed to be company, not another thing asking for attention. No sounds, no popups, she just lives there while you work. And pay once felt obvious, I want people to own their cat, not rent her. If you give the trial a spin I would love to hear how she settles in!
