Building Mend Journal Why I started this I've dealt with mental health struggles, and like many people, I tried a bunch of apps. Daylio for mood tracking, various journaling apps, some AI chatbots. Nothing really clicked. They all felt impersonal – I'd log my mood, write some notes, get generic advice. But none of them actually understood *me*. I kept wondering: what if I had something that knew my patterns? That could look at weeks of my data and actually notice things I missed? So I built Mend Journal. It's the app I wanted to exist. What's different about it The main thing is that the AI actually remembers your stuff. When you chat with it, it knows your mood history, your journal entries, your goals. So instead of starting fresh every conversation, it's like talking to someone who's been following your journey. The AI can also create personalized action plans based on your actual patterns, not generic advice. And it spots correlations – like if your mood dips after certain activities or improves with specific habits. I also added voice-to-text because sometimes you need to talk through feelings when you can't type. What I'm proud of Honestly? When users tell me the AI noticed something they completely missed. Like spotting a pattern between their sleep and anxiety levels, or realizing their mood improves on days they journal. Those moments make all the late nights worth it. The technical part I'm excited about is the conversation memory. Most AI chatbots reset every time. Mine actually evolves with you over time if you're on the Pro plan. The business side I have a free tier that's actually useful – full journaling, mood tracking, basic AI chat. Then Pro ($10/month) gets you unlimited AI conversations, memory, action plans, and voice features. I wanted the free version to be genuinely helpful, not just a teaser. What's next I'm working on therapy integration and better analytics. Maybe some wearable device connections down the line. The goal isn't to replace therapy, but to give people daily support that actually knows them. Mental health is personal, so the tools should be too.
