What's great

For anyone who spends all day bouncing between terminal tabs, IDEs, and browser windows, keeping track of exactly where time went is an absolute chore. MeMex solves this by building a localized visual timeline of your active workspace without the privacy baggage of mainstream alternatives.
Here is what makes it a standout 1.0 release:

True Data Sovereignty: Your screen recording database stays entirely local in a folder you designate. The fact that AI analysis is completely optional and supports bringing your own local endpoint (like Ollama or compatible LLM tools) means your code, keys, and proprietary data never leave your sandbox.
Semantic Screen Search: The plain-English querying is remarkably fast. You can ask "What was that database configuration schema I was looking at on Tuesday?" and it will jump directly to the exact visual frame and text evidence.
Pattern Insights: This is the killer feature. Instead of just being a passive history recorder, it actively analyzes your repeated workflows and highlights routines that are ripe for scripting and automation. It shifts the tool from a basic diary to an active productivity optimizer.

What needs improvement

This launch is incredibly clean, but adding a few power-user integrations would make it an undisputed staple:

Local Webhook Triggers: Since the app detects repeated workflows via Pattern Insights, it would be amazing if it could trigger a local webhook or pass a structured JSON payload when a pattern is flagged. This would let developers instantly wire MeMex alerts into custom python or automation scripts.
Regex-Based Exclusions: The app blocks sensitive windows well, but adding an advanced regex engine to exclude specific terminal titles, local file paths, or browser domains would provide extra peace of mind when working with raw environment variables.
Headless API Querying: Exposing a simple, secure localhost REST endpoint would allow users to programmatically query their own local memory database from their favorite terminal shortcuts or internal developer tools.

vs Alternatives

Before testing MeMex, I closely followed the "OS level memory" space

Streaming sensitive developer environments, configuration dotfiles, or uncommitted database migrations to a third-party server is a hard security dealbreaker. While open-source tools like Screenpipe are awesome for raw capture, they require a lot of manual configuration to get a polished timeline. MeMex hits the exact sweet spot: a smooth native UI combined with total local data control.
