I built MeBots after I made a GroupMe bot (https://mebots.io/bot/yalebot) as a fun college side project, and encountered glaring limitations of the platform. Out-of-box, GroupMe bots can only operate in one group at a time(!), and require manual form entering and copy-pasting bot tokens to operate. After building a web interface and database system to enable my bot to be added by other users for their own chats, I realized that this system could be reused. So, I made MeBots to enable many other bots to scale beyond just one group chat and unlock hidden potential that GroupMe's infrastructure currently doesn't enable. From there, I added a variety of other options and API features to help bot development be as easy as possible. MeBots now orchestrates over 1,000 bots to help spark unexpected joy in GroupMe chats.
