Hey Product Hunt 👋
I made Meander, a small Mac menu bar app for eye strain.
I spend 8+ hours a day staring at screens, and by evening my eyes were wrecked. I tried break reminders, but they kept popping up in the middle of calls, so I turned them all off. The few that know to wait are paid.
Meander follows the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Every third break is a longer one, to stand up and stretch.
The part I cared most about is timing. Meander notices when you're on a Zoom, Meet or Teams call, watching a video, playing a game, sharing your screen or in the middle of typing, and holds the break until you're done.
Thirty seconds before each break, a small card shows up at the top of your screen so you can snooze or start early.
Breaks show a quiet valley that follows the time of day. You can also pick a breathing light, a frosted desktop or a plain dark screen.
It's native Swift, works on macOS 13 and later, and has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking.
It's free, with no ads, no account and no data leaving your Mac. I built it for myself and figured others might want it too.
It's still a beta, so I'd love to hear what breaks, what's missing and what annoys you.
