how does the voting system actually work to make sure the long videos that surface are genuinely good and not just super niche stuff that only a few people upvote

so right now every video that gets submitted

goes through me first before it goes live

i manually approve everything at this stage

so genuinely bad or irrelevant stuff never

makes it to the feed in the first place

that's the cheat code while the community

is small. i can just look at every submission

and make sure it actually belongs here

as it scales the voting system takes over

votes are weighted by time so a video with

5 votes in the first hour ranks higher than

one with 5 votes spread over a week. that

naturally filters out stuff that only a

tiny group of people care about

the category and length filters help too

a super niche documentary might top the

documentary category but it won't dominate

the main feed

and long term the personalized feed handles

the rest the more u interact the more it

learns what good means specifically for u,

not just what the whole community agrees on

but ur pointing at a real challenge and i'm

not gonna pretend otherwise. the weighting

works properly at scale, right now manual

approval is doing the heavy lifting and

that's fine by me for now
