GPT-6 Astra handled the core product build end-to-end: translating fragmented material durability evidence into a structured simulation model, designing the degradation rules for different usage scenarios, and implementing the real-time Three.js material aging experience.
It also helped build the product UI, comparison workflow, PBR/shader-based wear effects, and supporting evidence system.
In short, Astra was used to turn raw material standards and technical data into an interactive durability simulator, not just to generate website copy or boilerplate code.

I kept noticing the same thing while looking at materials online:
Almost every tool shows you how something looks on Day 1.
Very few help answer the question I actually care about:
what happens after you live with it?
So I built Materialapse.
Pick two materials, choose the same usage scenario, and fast-forward years of use. Both materials receive the same simulated exposure — spills, acid, heat, abrasion, cleaning, and time — so you can compare how their responses diverge.
I also wanted the model to be transparent instead of feeling like a black box. Where possible, Materialapse uses ASTM/ISO standards, industry guidance, and manufacturer technical data, and lets you inspect the evidence behind the simulation.
One important caveat: this is a comparative scenario model, not a warranty or a literal prediction of exactly what a specific countertop will look like five years from now.
I built Materialapse for the GPT-6 Astra Challenge. Astra helped me turn the material research, simulation rules, Three.js rendering, evidence model, and product UX into a working product on a very short timeline.
Materialapse is free today.
Longer term, I think this could become an embeddable durability layer for material retailers and manufacturers — helping shoppers compare not only how products look when new, but how they may perform over time.
