Howdy PH!
I’m Robert, the maker of MatchCut FCP. I built this because I started building video essays for my podcast but I found it took hours to align media for a 10-20 minute episode. Hours dragging and trimming dozens of images or clips to line up with each line of narration, it was horrific.
So I made MatchCut FCP to do that part for you.
Drop in your voiceover, and it transcribes on-device (your audio never leaves your Mac).
Point it at a folder of images or clips, and it matches the first file to the first caption line, the second to the second, and so on.
Then it exports Final Cut Pro XML with every asset locked to the exact start and end of its caption. In my demo, 60 captions and 60 assets took 45 seconds.
It works well for video essays, podcasts and documentaries with a visual track, high-volume YouTube channels, and anything with AI-generated or stock visuals.
It’s a native Apple Silicon app, currently in beta (v0.0.3).
Early-access pricing is $19 ($10 for PH 🐱), and that price goes up. I’d love your feedback, especially on what other export formats you’d want next. I’m here all day to answer questions.
