MasterKey watches how you click in Google Sheets and pops up the keyboard shortcut you could have used instead. No memorizing lists — you learn the shortcuts for the actions you actually do, right when you do them. Free, privacy-first, Mac & Windows.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Kuranaka, the maker of MasterKey.
I started my career in consulting, living in Excel where keyboard shortcuts were pure muscle memory. Then I joined a startup that runs entirely on Google Workspace — and that muscle memory broke. I caught myself slowly clicking through Sheets toolbars like it was 2005.
What surprised me most was how many people never use shortcuts at all — even folks who live in spreadsheets all day. And relearning them from cheat sheets never sticks: you forget them the second you close the list.
So I built MasterKey. It does one thing: the moment you click a button in Sheets, it shows you the shortcut you could have pressed instead. You don't study shortcuts — you absorb the ones you actually use, exactly when you use them. (Inspired by IntelliJ's Key Promoter X, which did this for coding.)
A few things I cared about:
• Privacy — it only sees which button you click, never your data.
• Mac & Windows keys, shown side by side.
• It's designed to fade out: once a shortcut sticks, you stop needing the nudge.
It's free, and I'd genuinely love your feedback — especially on which actions you'd want covered next. I'll be here all day answering everything. Thank you for checking it out 🙏
