Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Rocco, creator of Markdown Reader.
As a developer and reader, I constantly open local READMEs, technical documentation, and Markdown notes directly in the browser. Most existing viewers either depend on remote CDNs, lack proper math/diagram support, or send tracking data to third-party servers.
I built **Markdown Reader** around three core principles:
1. **Speed & Zero Configuration:** Open any .md or local file:/// document and it renders instantly with clean typography.
2. **Absolute Privacy:** 100% offline. Zero tracking, zero remote CDNs, and dynamic resource URLs so websites cannot detect the extension.
3. **Power-user Features:** Offline MathJax with 33 TeX packages, interactive Mermaid diagrams with zoom & pan, Prism syntax highlighting supporting ~300 languages, 30 themes, and live auto-reload for local files.
Everything was engineered from scratch with vanilla JavaScript and native CSS—no bulky frameworks, respecting WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines, and fully translated into 6 languages.
I’d love to hear your feedback, feature ideas, and suggestions! What themes or markdown syntax would you love to see next?
Thank you for your support! 🚀
