Hey Product Hunt 👋
Backstory: I was at a huge music festival a while back, the kind where the
grounds are massive- like an hour walk end to end, campgrounds, RVs,
a dozen stages, food stalls, toilets, all of it. You had two options for
getting around. The festival's own map, which was just a flat image- no
live location, no way to pin where your tent was, no way to send it to
anyone. Or their app, which nobody wants to install and still didn't give
you basic stuff like actual navigation. Or you used Google Maps, except
the entire festival grounds just showed up as a blank green field. I
lost probably an hour that weekend just wandering around looking for my
own tent, and another chunk of it hunting for a pizza stall I'd walked
past earlier and couldn't find again.
That's the whole reason Maptide exists. You design the overlay- stages,
food stalls, your tent, whatever matters- on top of a real Google Map,
then export it as a KML you import into Google My Maps. What you get
back is a normal Google Maps link. Zoom it, search it, send it to
whoever needs it, and it still shows the real ground underneath instead
of a blank field.
Building it mainly for exactly that kind of event- festivals, campgrounds,
races, weddings, anything with a "here's where stuff is" problem and no
good way to hand someone a real map for it.
Still pre-launch, heads down on the editor. This page's just here so you
can get notified when it's live. If you've ever been lost looking for your
own tent at a festival, you already get why I built this.
