Mapmate

Hey guys, I'm excited to tell you about Mapmate, i've been working on this app for nearly 3 years and glad it's finally finished and is ready to welcome you all. It's available on both iOS and Android. My vision is to bring people together in a fun and meaningful way, and encourage interaction with people around you. Wherever people are or travel to, i want them to feel connected and integrated to the area around them. I want them to quickly find food & drink recommendations, safety concerns, report lost items, among other categories. I created the above video before the coronavirus pandemic which is fitting as people are now isolated even more than before, although face to face interactions will need time. The way the app works is it opens directly on the Map to allow people to explore the area as fast as possible. The map displays an area of 5 mile radius, pan around and tap on the Emoji's to view the photo (Moment) shared in that location, or tap on a person to 'wave' at them. You can 'Like' the Moment or send a private message to that person to ask them about it. To post a photo on the map; tap the circle at the bottom > select a category > take a photo, add a caption > Post it! I've integrated Snapkit so users can quickly signup and bring over their Bitmoji to Mapmate which is ideal for people that don't want to use their photo. To add some trust in the community you start as a 'Resident' and you get Karma points based on posting useful photos on the map. Reputations increase through 5 levels: Resident > Mayor > Ambassador > Governor > President. For privacy reasons your location is not tracked in the background, and there's privacy settings to hide yourself on the map. You can filter the map to show friends only, so you can pan around and see where your friends have been and what they've shared. It's a great way to get closer with friends and family. I want the initial focus to be on food and drinks, so please share your favourite food spots in your town to help each other find the best burgers or pizza's. Thanks, Jay
