Mapedia is a crowd-sourced education web app. It's the best place to start learning new topics, find the best learning materials, figure out what to learn next or connect with learners on the same path as you. Spend time learning, not wondering how to learn. We think the shift to a new style of education is far overdue. Given the vastly outdated traditional education systems, and the profit seeking companies/institutions that exist today, we feel that learners are always at a disadvantage. We created Mapedia to make learning seamless and actually enjoyable for motivated learners. We hope Mapedia.org will soon become the go to platform for curious minds looking to grow and share knowledge with one-another. So What Does Mapedia Offer? 1️⃣ Explore Learning Visualise and explore every great resource available in a topic space. Through a network graph database, any user can seamlessly explore different fields of study, topics, subtopics, and resources for any area of knowledge you could possibly think of. Through this “Google Earth-Style” view, a curious learner is given the opportunity to see the relationships between different fields of interest, while seamlessly diving deeper into subtopics to discover all the great resources from around the world. 2️⃣ Guided Learning Data and community enabled guidance. No more revenue driven recommendations. By stepping away from monetised recommendations, users are able utilize data and community driven suggestions. Based on your existing expertise on a given topic, and the paths laid out from the expertise of other users, we are able to create a much more directed and effective learning experience for the motivated user. Let us give you some options of where you can and should start a topic, then let the community and the data trails they have left behind guide you to create your idea of successful learning. 3️⃣ Community Driven A limitless, crowdsourced product, to help individuals achieve learning goals. Mapedia is a product built for any online learner. By developing an extendable, crowdsourced “Wiki-Style” platform, we are only providing tools for the community to shape an open learning map: content creation and curation is owned by the community, based on the expertise of each contributor. On Mapedia, anyone can receive support from the community and give back to it by providing feedback, adding content or sharing learning advice to the next learner. Join us: we are an open community of passionate, curious online learners who want to improve the way people learn online, in an accessible way. Mapedia has been in beta for the last few months while meeting and inviting subject-mater experts and community leaders to the platform. As of July 15th - Mapedia.org will be live to the entire public! Love the idea. Imagine how many students will stick to a topic if they knew the best way to ramp up or get started on their journey. Countless times I’ve dove into a subject without fully understanding the fundamentals, and quitting shortly after. Very useful tool for anyone looking to learn something but unclear where to begin. Can’t wait.
