What do you think? …

Hey there - I've been a software engineer for about a decade and I've been really into woodworking for about 8 years now. Tape measure math (in feet/inches) can be really tricky at times and there just wasn't a great calculator out there to make life easy. I sought out to create something simple, intuitive, and clean that makes the extra effort of opening an app mid-project worth it. Over the years I've found quite a bit of fellow engineers and tech folks who also enjoy building things in the physical space in their spare time, so I thought I'd post here since I think it could potentially benefit.

@budb That's great to hear! A lot of folks find it especially useful on real-life jobsites where measurements are never on nice even numbers. Hope it works out great for you!

Congratulations on the launch of Maker Calc! It sounds like a handy tool for tackling complex equations with measurement-based fractions. Real-time calculations as you type will undoubtedly save users valuable time and effort while working on projects. Wishing you great success and continuous innovation for your app! If you have any questions or need advice, feel free to reach out. Keep up the excellent work!

Hey, the UI is awesome, surprised that there weren't any great apps already for this, congrats on the launch!

@asaxena1415 Thank you! There are definitely a few out there, but I found that they were all pretty archaic in their design and were mostly geared towards construction/home building or just plain fraction math. I wanted something in-between that served all types of craftsmen and tradesmen.

This will be helpful in beadwork. Beads are usually metric, whereas finished product is not. This will also be useful in crochet, as yarn is measured in both. Now, how soon do you think it will be until weights will be added? And maybe add angle functions, degrees and trig functions for calculating round craftsmanship (and volume). The fact important equations can be starred and labeled is added value. It works offline, too! Jake Hasler, you have a fine product going here. Congratulations!

@suzlowry Wow that's a use-case I definitely hadn't thought of! Very cool. I hope its useful to you! As far as other conversions and such, I primarily want to be sure I have the very best calculator for feet and inch measurements that exists, and then I may eventually expand into other conversions and/or industry specific calculators. Thanks for the comment and interest!
