### 💡 The Story & Inspiration
Every year on my birthday, my phone would fill up with generic "HBD" text messages. While well-intended, they felt dry and transactional. I wanted a dedicated, visually stunning space to collect warm wishes from friends, family, and even kind strangers. Born out of curiosity and nothing else. Loneliness has been identified as the #1 problem to solve for. Here is my honest work towards the cause. Not trying to make money out of it, just trying to make World a better place.
At the same time, I realized that birthdays are the absolute best time for personal reflection and goal setting. Why not combine these two?
That’s how makeawish was born—a warm, responsive web app that serves as part social birthday wall and part private yearly resolution tracker.

* **Zodiac Onboarding Chat**: A highly interactive onboarding companion that gets to know you, reveals your zodiac sign, and sets up your profile card.
* **Public Birthday Walls**: Share your unique slug (e.g., `/u/ayush`) so anyone can write a beautiful named or anonymous wish on your birthday wall.
* **Private Resolution Checklist**: A personal dashboard area where you can set private resolutions for your upcoming year of life, complete with an active-progress visual meter.
* **Homepage Dashboard Preview**: A custom glassmorphic countdown banner at the top of your landing page showing a live days-left countdown and a preview of your top active resolutions.
* **Wishing Streaks**: Gamified wishing tracks to encourage you to spread daily birthday joy.
🛠️ The Tech Stack (For the Developers!)
Under the hood, **makeawish** is engineered for speed and security:
* Built on **Next.js 16 (Turbopack)** and hosted on **Vercel** for ultra-fast Edge-cached load times (under 50ms).
* Completely powered by **Firebase (Firestore & Firebase Auth)** for lightning-fast database writes and logins.
* Secured via **HTTP-only server session cookies**, making user authentication fully immune to XSS token theft.
* Bypasses heavy Firestore database index roadblocks by performing active sorting directly **in-memory** in server components!
