I noticed Ghost’s newsletter setup creates a pretty strong vendor lock-in around Mailgun, and that felt unnecessarily restrictive for people who want more flexibility or better control over their email infrastructure.
So I built MailPunch as a proxy layer that makes it easier to use alternative providers without changing the existing workflow too much. The goal was to remove friction, keep things simple, and give users more freedom over how they handle newsletter email delivery.
Building it also made me realize how many people quietly struggle with deliverability, provider limitations, and setup complexity. So the product evolved from a simple workaround into something more focused on reliability and flexibility.
