Hello hunters!
We are excited to introduce you to the Magic 2.0!
New build by the numbers:
- 2,880 hours were spent teaching the neural network to recognize emotions
- 1,832 times the phrase “Try another color and shape” was said by Magic’s Art Director to perfect the graphics
- 274 cups of coffee were drunk while coding this build
- 2 inches of beard were grown by Magic’s CEO to improve face detection and tracking for people with facial hair
- 1 iPhone was smashed against the wall by Magic’s Head of Engineering when he read a negative review about bugs in version 1.0
As you can see, the team at Magic spent days and nights developing some top notch AR tech to surprise you and your friends.
Try it out and please share your feedback!

@gabrelyanov so, you can't write now:
"No iPhones Were Harmed in the Making of This App"
I noticed the app is free and that it's your only app in Apple store.
How are you making money off this?
In your Privacy Policy I was looking to see what data you collected from the user (under the assumption that if the user is not paying for the app then you're selling the user's data to make money), it states "The owner does not provide a list of Personal Data types collected."
What data are you collecting from the user?
@fbara thanks for your questions!
We're planning to generate revenue from product placements - we already have few offers from digital agencies to promote FMCG brands this summer.
We don't collect data like users' pictures or videos.

wow! did you base your approach to identifying emotions based on Paul Ekman's research or just taught the network from scratch?
@mikael_yang We trained the network ourselves. 2,880 hours were spent teaching the neural network to recognize emotions. When we found that it was having trouble detecting the emotions of our bearded users, our CEO @gabrelyanov grew a 2 inch beard to train and improve the technology :)
Meet Magic version 2.0 - the first app that detects facial expressions in real-time and augments your videos with emotion based animations. Version 2.0 introduces greatly improved emotion detection, a simpler UI, and a characters function that works alongside Magic’s unique animated emotional augmentation tech.
Emotional detection is very hot right now. Any plans to dev for VR like @eyefluence?

I absolutely love the product & design, all details are so well thought about... keep going guys and maybe one day Facebook will have to make you an offer you wont refuse:D
@daniel_mishin Thanks Daniel for your feedback! As far as I know FaceBook already acquired face recognition technology provider FacioMetrics to add fun effects to photos and videos. But who knows )
