I quit Notion to plug Claude Code into every part of my workflow — but as someone who used to sell Notion templates, I couldn't let go of kanban boards and timeline views. So I built Notion on top of local markdown files. Any folder ofmd files on your Mac becomes Notion-style pages, databases, kanban, and calendars. The right panel ships with a real terminal, so Claude Code or Codex runs right next to your notes. macOS only for now.
Hey Product Hunt,
I've finally stopped using Notion entirely.
To plug Claude Code into every part of my productivity workflow, I rebuilt my entire second brain on local markdown files. But as someone who used to make money selling Notion templates, I was simply too deep into Notion to walk away from it — I still needed my kanban boards and timeline views. At the same time, I couldn't give up the Claude Code + Skills workflow that had already become my entire life.
So in the end, I built my own Notion, one that runs on top of local markdown files.
Any folder of markdown files on your Mac can now be used as Notion-style pages, databases, kanban boards, and calendars. The side panel ships with a real terminal, so you can work alongside CLI agents like Claude Code or Codex right next to your notes.
For anyone who wished they could use Claude Code together with Notion, those who've already built workflows around Obsidian and Claude Code, anyone left unsatisfied by Notion AI, or simply those intrigued by this concept, I hope MAEK becomes a new option worth trying.
macOS only at v1. Would love brutal feedback. 🙏
