LyfAI

Say goodbye to “where did I put that?”

Instead of asking Alexa to order something new for you, ask her to find what you know you already have … somewhere! LyfAI uses AI to help you organize, track, categorize & retrieve easily without the initial work of cleaning up!

Thanks, @kevin , for hunting LyfAI. PH community, Join us on a journey to reverse consumerism by reducing the need for people to buy things they don't need. We can do that. Together! How did LyfAI come to life? Which problem did I want to solve? Family of 5 people - an abundance of things that are "needed." Small living space - extremely cluttered to allow for easy access. That created such uneasiness, which made me not want to spend time at home. Marie Kondo, home organization books, and numerous minimalist blog posts helped some, but it was hard to get the family to agree on what we are keeping or discarding. In fact, I was not ready to give up on many things I didn't have an immediate use for. My question was: How do we create a minimalistic living space but still preserve access to important things that we occasionally need? So I started organizing all things that we don't often use into boxes and kept track of all items that I put in them. It made a huge difference, but the process to catalog items and search for them was cumbersome, so we went back to clutter pretty quickly. Finally, after not being satisfied with the app options on the market, I decided to put together an app with all the options we needed. Boy, it took months, but the result is pretty impressive. The ability to move things out of sight and be confident that we can find and access them easily created such a difference to our living space and changed my wife's and my relationship with our belongings. Thanks, @marko_arsic , for your work on building LyfAI. This would not have happened without you. Cherry on top - we just created and certified Alexa Skill, which adds the convenience of using voice to look up anything you added through the app without pulling up the phone. Please try it out and let us know your thoughts.

Love it. I was just wondering why is it free and how do you make money?
Miki
@milansusnjar_ glad you like it. Thanks! In order to really make an impact, the app needs to remain free, forever. No item limits, no in-app purchase. Our currency is your feedback. We don’t plan to charge users for using any of the LyfAI features, but there are monetization routes that can be explored later e.g. charging selected businesses to present their offers. We genuinely want the world changed!

@miljan_mihajlovic Great. Wishing you luck. I installed the app. So far, so good.

This seems very useful. Any plans on integrating it somehow with Home Assisstant? You could for example import the existing rooms from HA, place items into those rooms, and then have HA automatically flash smart lights in the exact room the item is in or similar, when you or someone else in your household is trying to find it.
Miki
@sandro_g yes, we already have that in works
Miki
@sandro_g I love your idea

Congrats on the launch! 1) Can I use the app to find my keys? :) 2) Now seriously, I dig the idea. I always wonder where some of my stuff is. How do you manage the situation when I move something and I don't update the app? 3) how do you respect privacy if you use Alexa in the chain?
Miki
@bogomep, thank you! 1) keys are fine, don't ever use the app to track humans :) 2) the system relies on you updating the app ... until we develop systems of sensors, RFID stickers, or cameras that would register these movements 3) Alexa Skill requires account linking so your data is protected the same way it is protected in the app

Well done !! Congratulation and good luck !!

Alexey
Bit of skeptical about the present, but no doubt this can super useful, need to try. Could I create a record via voice and then search it with text?
Miki
@alexey6 thanks for the comment Our first version of Alexa Skill takes care of finding stuff. Adding items via voice is high up on our roadmap for voice interactions.
Miki
@alexey6 Also, could you please give us clarification on what are you skeptical about. We value all kinds of feedback.

Congrats on launch! Cool concept. The app recognizes images of everyday things surprisingly well. Curious how that works?
Miki
Thanks @min_kim3 ! Well, that's our trade secret :) It is a machine learning model that is built on millions of photos of everyday things. So when you take a photo, the app pushes the image through that model and gives you the labels associated with that image. By the time more people use this system the model will improve, and it will be even better.
