lumi blocks your doomscroll and makes sure you don't snooze through your alarm. at bedtime, lumi locks every distracting app on your phone: tiktok, instagram, games, until morning. its alarm won't stop until you prove you're actually awake: solve math problems. do pushups, jumping jacks, or squats. scan a barcode. no more doomscrolling into 2am. no more sleeping through your alarm.

hey, it's Anum & Fatima! 👋
we made lumi because we were tired of telling ourselves "just one more reel" and then realizing it was 1 AM.
at night, lumi locks distracting apps so we can't spend another hour doomscrolling. in the morning, it makes us earn our alarm by doing things like squats, push-ups, math problems, or other challenges instead of half-asleep tapping snooze.
the goal isn't to optimize sleep with complicated tracking.
it's just to make going to bed on time and getting out of bed feel a little less like fighting your own brain.

would love to know:
what's the thing that keeps you up later than you planned?
and what's your worst snooze-button habit? 💜
enjoy!
the barcode scan task is genius, i actually had to get up and walk to my kitchen which is the whole problem i have in the mornings. wish the lock screen showed what time it was though, kept unlocking just to check.
@melahatakyewf8 just to clarify, the lock screen only appears when you try to open one of your selected locked apps during your bedtime hours, it doesn’t replace your phone’s normal lock screen, so you can still check the time as usual.
love that it locks the apps at bedtime, actually had to put my phone across the room to cheat. the barcode scan is a fun touch, felt like a little victory scanning my shampoo bottle at 6am.
@berencamba28643 😄 you can also try some of the harder morning challenges, like push-ups, squats, or jumping jacks. it’s a small way to build an exercise habit alongside waking up on time.
the barcode scan trick is genuinely clever, such a simple way to force your brain out of sleep mode before the alarm shuts off. love how the whole thing feels designed around actually breaking habits instead of just nagging you about them.
@azadtekeli yes, that’s exactly the goal, not just to remind you, but to actually help break the habit.
the barcode scan trick actually works, woke up my partner too which was a funny bonus. wish it had a softer wake-up sound before the chaos kicks in though.
@aysimaafz2 haha 😄, glad to hear that.
and yes, we’re planning to add more alarm sounds in the next version, including softer options, so you can customise how intense or softer the wake-up is.
What happens if I genuinely need to use one of the locked apps in an emergency, like calling someone late at night?
@lkerabanogfxgp your phone’s native calling and text messaging apps are never locked, so you can still contact someone in an emergency.
for any other locked app, you can enable up to three emergency unlocks per night in the alarm settings. each unlock gives you five minutes of access to the locked apps.
the barcode scan idea is genuinely clever, way more grounded than those shake-your-phone wake up tricks. feels like the team actually thought about real groggy mornings
@ekin1366265 yes, exactly! we built it for ourselves first, so we really thought about what actually works. and there are plenty of other challenges beyond barcode scanning too, like jumping jacks, squats, and push-ups.
