Lumessa is a language vocabulary app that begins on your lock screen: learn a few words at a time, each with its sound, a sentence and a memory hook, ordered around why you are learning. Six languages currently, more on the way: French, Spanish, Italian, German, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese.
I studied French, Spanish and Italian at university and always wanted to build my own language learning tool. I built Lumessa solo, in Claude Code, after marrying into a Polish family and wanting to learn Polish to talk to them properly. The free plan teaches (properly) 1,000 words in under a year, and quizzes you on the words you have already learnt at progressive intervals, never capped. I’d love your feedback, especially on the lock-screen widget.
