lucent.earth brings IRL streams from Twitch and Kick to life on a stunning interactive WebGL globe. Using AI to geolocate streams in real time, it turns the entire planet into a living, glowing map of what the world is broadcasting right now.

I'm super excited to launch lucent.earth: a beautiful interactive WebGL globe that turns the entire planet into a living map of what's streaming right now.
It pulls IRL livestreams from Twitch & Kick, geolocates them by having AI analyze stream metadata, and places glowing dots right on the globe so you can spin the Earth and instantly discover what's happening around the world.
I've always kept walking/driving streams from distant countries and cultures running on my second monitor while I work. There's something subtly sublime about that constant, living connection to the world, which was the inspiration behind lucent.earth.
I also added radio stations (thanks to the fantastic Radio Browser API) and Earth Cams from YouTube Live so you can explore cities, nature, and global vibes through live video and audio. The WebGL globe is powered by the incredible globe.gl library (shoutout to Vasco Asturiano!) which made this aesthetic, smooth 3D globe possible.
I'd love to add more sources or channels to the platform, feel free to comment if you have any suggestions!
Thanks for checking it out :)
Ah also I open sourced the frontend and added the GitHub link, but I haven't made the backend public yet. It's a total mess, if I made the repo public right now I would die of shame lol
