Lowline is a tab editor made only for bass, for Mac and Windows. Load a clean recording of your bass and it drafts the tab for you. Playback uses samples of a real bass in Clean and Dist, and you can export PDFs or scrolling tab videos for playthroughs.

Hi everyone, I'm Naoto, the bassist in the Japanese band été.
I built Lowline because the tab editors I tried were made for the whole band. When all I wanted was to write down a bassline, I spent more time scrolling past features than writing. Hearing heavy riffs played back in a polite clean tone didn't help either.
So Lowline does one thing: bass.
Load a clean, bass-only WAV and it drafts the tab. It's a head start you finish by ear, not a perfect transcription
Playback uses samples recorded from a real bass (fingerstyle, slap, ghost notes, harmonics) in Clean and Dist
Export PDFs (tab, rhythm and optional standard notation) or a scrolling tab video to lay over your playthroughs
Opens Guitar Pro 7/8, MusicXML and MIDI files
What it doesn't do: other instruments, basses with 8 or more strings, MP3 import, or pulling the bass out of a full mix. It's desktop only.
It's a one-time purchase (¥2,980, about US$20) for Mac and Windows. There's a browser demo with real sound, and a full refund within 30 days if it's not for you. If you play bass, you can also write your own tab (up to 16 bars) right in the browser: https://naotoyamada.com/tightline/editor/
If you write out basslines, I'd love to hear: what's the most tedious part for you?
