Hi Product Hunt, Joel here, designer of the new Loft Laptop System for your desk to elevate your laptop as a second screen while utilizing valuable deskspace. Loft System started as a selfish build for my own desk.
I’m on video calls most of the day and I rely on a second screen, but my laptop was always too low to be useful. When I tried typical laptop stands, I gained height but lost precious desk space, and my desk turned into a mess of notes and little gadgets.
Loft is my attempt to solve all of that in one footprint: raise the laptop, add a desktop whiteboard for the daily plan, and add a nesting tray so the essentials stay within reach. The whiteboard and tray slide on felt so you can pull them in and out smoothly and reposition them as your day changes while the laptop stand is a stand alone best made in USA of recycled steel.
One design tradeoff I expect you to challenge: Loft is fixed height. That’s intentional because the bent-steel form keeps it simple, stable, and low-wobble, but I know “perfect height” varies a lot. I designed this for your desk not for a mobile laptop riser.
I’d love honest feedback:
Are you using a laptop as second or even third monitor? The Loft raises the front of your laptop 6" and 10" at the back. My Macbook Air's monitor (13") now sit 19" high at the top. Do you feel this is a good height? If not, what would you want to see?
Do you prefer adjustability, or would you choose a fixed height if it is more stable and cleaner?
If we offered two heights or a minimal riser accessory, what would you want that to look like?
What would you write on the desktop whiteboard every day, tasks, schedule, habits, or something else?
I’ll be here all day and I’m genuinely looking for ideas to make the next version better.
