Ben Ferry, founder of Lockbox Adventures created the original Lockbox Adventure as a Reddit Secret Santa gift, which ended up being voted as the best overall gift. In 2019, Ben sent one to Mythbusters host Adam Savage, who posted an unboxing video of his VIP Lockbox Adventure. Generating so much interest and great feedback online, Ben decided to make a tabletop game out of the concept.
