LocalPDF is a privacy-first web app that lets you merge, split, edit, and compress PDFs entirely in your browser. Powered by WebAssembly, your sensitive documents are processed locally in your device's memory and never uploaded to a cloud server.
Hey Product Hunt! š I'm Naresh, a B.Tech CS student and the builder behind LocalPDF. Whenever I needed to merge or compress PDFs for university assignments or personal documents, I hated having to upload them to sketchy, ad-filled websites. I never knew where those files were actually going or who was storing them.
So, I decided to build a privacy-first alternative from scratch.
LocalPDF is a suite of PDF tools that runs 100% client-side. By leveraging WebAssembly and your browser's memory, the processing happens locally on your device.
⨠What it can do:
Merge & Split: Combine multiple files or extract specific pages.
Edit & Redact: Add text/images, or visually block out sensitive information.
Compress: Shrink massive files without sending them to a server.
š The Airplane Mode Guarantee:
Because there is no backend server processing your files, you can literally load the website, turn off your Wi-Fi, and do all your PDF manipulation completely offline. Your data never leaves your screen.
As a student building this on the side, I would absolutely love your feedback!
What essential PDF tools are missing from your daily workflow?
How does the performance feel on your device?
I'll be hanging out in the comments all day to answer questions and take feature requests. Thank you so much for checking it out! š
