I was building a simple PMT function in excel to show someone how to work out interest over time, when I realised it wasn't that simple if you were not from a finance background. Instead of trying to explain the different elements of an excel function and then how to use this to calculate interest and principal, I thought I'd build a straight forward app that would require minimal technical background or skill to input loan details, put also show your monthly repayment over time both graphically, and in a table where you could see the changes over time. Adding in a what-if scenario made sense as things change over time. Interested to know if you find this helpful.

The extra repayment slider really helped me see how much time I could shave off a mortgage by just adding fifty bucks extra each month. Felt way less intimidating than other finance tools I've poked around in.

the amortisation schedule view is genuinely the clearest one i've come across, especially how it visualises the interest versus principal split as the loan progresses. really thoughtful build for people who usually glaze over this stuff

This is genuinely helpful for people who get intimidated by finance stuff. The extra repayments scenario really clicked for me, I could see exactly how much time and interest I'd save by adding a bit extra each month.
