We make Little Workroom, a Mac app with small companions that stay beside your other windows. The idea is simple: a little company during a writing session or a long afternoon of tabs.
A companion should be easy to live with, so sound starts off, reminders are optional, and you can adjust the character size and reactions. Typing and scrolling reactions are opt-in and require macOS permission. The app does not record the words you type.
There is more than a typing animation: companions can play, groom and nap, and you can open a separate focus room with a timer and furnishings. Actions vary by character; Leo has a smaller six-pose set.
See the 35-second demonstration or try the separate free browser room here:

The Mac app is our paid product; the browser room is free. The video uses staged inputs in the app renderer, and character art was made with AI assistance.
If you have used a desktop pet, what made you keep it around or turn it off? We would especially like to hear where gentle company becomes distracting.
