Powered by the IoT and Helium, Lithium is a community safety solution, alerting users of nearby emergencies. Get real-time alerts in case of emergency nearby. Install compatible sensors and alert your neighbours when things go wrong.
Power cut? -> 🔋Battery powered (lasts for years)
No internet? -> 🛜No need, use LoRa radio instead.
Security system down? -> 🌎Helium gateways miles away.
🫶Let's build safer communities where members can help each other or get out of dangerous situations in time.
@venky_venky4 That is a great question! 💪
People all over the world are installing compatible IoT safety sensors, such as smoke sensor, water leakage sensor, panic buttons, door/window security sensor, motion sensor, and many more. FInd them here: https://lithium-app.com/the-sensors
When a sensor triggers, it sends a signal to the nearest Helium gateway, even miles away. So you don't need to have such a gateway, as a neighbour or friend has one for sure. The data is then send over the Helium network, data integrity is assured using Blockchain and then forwarded to the Lithium servers.
The current location of the user's mobile device is used to compute a Hexagonal Geographic cell, as we are using the Uber's system, H3 - Hexagonal hierarchical geo-spatial indexing system, and this cell is matched with the neighbouring hexagonal cells to check for existing emergencies.
In this way we are privacy oriented, we do not store user's precise location, and have implemented the Check In mechanism, which allows users to voluntarily subscribe to their current location to get notifications. Of course, if they want to get notifications from somewhere else, remotely, they can do so, using Places. Find more on https://lithium-app.com/#about
Moreover, we do not need personal information, we are just matching user's hexagonal cell with sensor's location in case of an emergency. On the map there is a pin marker with relevant information, such as, category of the event, time of detection and distance to the point.
Thank you!
@kgrebenjukov Thank you very much! This is indeed the main idea, to create something meaningful for the community, and to empower people around with real time data on their surroundings, so we can react faster in case of emergency. I think that building things that matter for a better world is one of the best achievements for me.
