We're Clemens and Jörg, building Limea!

What inspired us to start this project:

It started as a habit, not a business plan. We kept sending each other podcast episodes and had conversations about the episodes afterwards - that conversation was often more valuable than the episode itself. We could express our thoughts, questions and opinions of certain parts of the episode.

We realized podcasts are such a great way of staying informed and learning these days, but the format is fundamentally one-way without a great way of exchange with other listeners. There's no room to question something, verify a claim, or add context to what's being said. And since we build our picture of the world from what we consume, that felt like a gap worth closing.

The problem we're solving:

Most podcast apps stop at playback. There is no room for a conversation to certain moments with fellow listeners. We want a player that solves the playback as you know it and also offers room for conversation - no escaping to group chats, in comments, or way later - it all happens within the episode, anchored to the exact moment someone said something worth discussing.

How our approach evolved:

We started simple: limea works like any other podcast player, full-featured, nothing paywalled. From there we added the social side: threads tied to the second in the episode, following friends, sharing highlights, feeds to browse threads and podcasts. This way you find out what the community cares about.

One more thing that is very important to us:

We are building a new social platform but we know the value and the importance of your own personal data. We don’t run ads or sell your data to third parties. Every user gets every feature - no premium tier. You decide what Limea's worth to you.
