What do you think? …

How many people do you cold call? ☎️ I started Lighthouse just after getting kicked off Stanford's campus in March 2020. Just weeks into the pandemic, I was already exhausted by constant phone tag and the draining effort of reaching out to catch up. So I started building a tool that lets you spontaneously connect with friends. The way it works is simple: whenever you're free to call, just tap a single button to turn your Light on. Lighthouse will send an invitation to friends to Facetime you. With easy gestures, you can turn your Light on to Close Friends, Friends, Family, or any group you can think of. If you're a student, you can turn your Light on to university groups, and spontaneously meet your next roommate or study buddy. You can also share what your Light's On for, and use Lighthouse as the fastest tool to do anything from co-study to get lunch. Our goal is to make calling friends as seamless as walking into their dorm room door. We're backed by Xfund and a Lyft co-founder. Check us out at bit.ly/downloadlighthouse when we launch on June 21st.

I was an avid user of the first versions of Lighthouse at Stanford and I'm genuinely thankful this became an actual product open to the public. Making online interactions happen during the pandemic quickly became very draining and the lack of physical shared spaces to have an unscheduled chat with friends basically reduced the spontaneity of my social interactions to zero. Lighthouse became that much needed shared space for me and my friends at Stanford during its test run. @ben_fischer Really hyped for more and more users to experience this as well.

Lighthouse is one of the few truly both objectively utile and functional apps coming out of Stanford undegrads I've seen. @ben_fischer has put in a huge amount of effort to make it as seamless and easy to use - give it a go!
