After many years playing Wordfeud and WWF, and wishing for freedoms and features that would never appear, we took the plunge and built the Scrabble-game we've always dreamed of. No more getting stuck (use a Hint). No more wondering what words mean (use the built-in dictionary). And a lot more.
Lexible is the first game to do Finnish properly; It has over 3.6million words. Why Finnish? It's my second home, and my partner's home country and we were constantly annoyed by other scrabble games that didn't allow some words that are dictionary words. We've built the dictionary from the ground up to properly handle Suomi's word-endings and compounding. So we can finally play the game properly. We didn't stop there.
I'm not great speaking or writing in Finnish, but I do want to practice, so now we can play together with English and Finnish playable in the same game. I can practice my second language, and my opponent can practice English. We meet in the middle, and the in-built dictionary has English meanings when we need them. Play one or two languages; EN, ES (Spanish), FI (Finnish), and DE (German) are fully supported.
But it goes deeper, waaay deeper. Scrabble, the way it can be played in real life, has a whole range of ways friends and family adjust things so that it plays better. It might help to have a tile more, a tile less, or the ability to flip-to-blank. These are all supported in Lexible. It's up to you to configure a custom game to be how you like it. We're curious to see how you play it and are always open to new ways to allow rule-bends or tweaks that keep it challenging and fun.
Sometimes games get stuck, or you want to "just play a turn". If a hint played it for you, that would suck, so we broke the hinting system into stages. Each stage reveals a little more info about the available moves. You choose how much of a hint you want.
It's online, and heaps is free; no sign-up required. https://lexible.app - Classic to Custom. Wordplay, your way.
We'd love to hear what makes sense, or not, and tweak it to help this be the most fun Scrabble-variant ever
