Most AI tools I've tried focus on generating activities and worksheets.
That's useful, but the bigger challenge for me is knowing what to teach next. After working with a student for a long time, there's a lot of context to keep track of. I've been using Lesson Mate because it combines lesson generation with lesson history, progress tracking, and AI suggestions based on what the student has already learned. That's where I've found the most value.
We built Lesson Mate because we noticed that many ESL teachers and tutors spend an enormous amount of time preparing lessons every week. Especially for 1:1 online classes where every student has different goals, interests, grammar gaps, and English levels.
Most AI tools we tested were either too generic, too classroom-focused, or generated content that still required a lot of manual fixing afterward.
Our goal with Lesson Mate was to create something specifically for independent ESL teachers and online tutors: a tool that helps reduce prep time while still allowing teachers to fully customize and control the lesson.
During development, one thing became very clear: teachers donโt want AI to replace their teaching style. They want help with the repetitive parts: structuring lessons, generating exercises, adapting content to CEFR levels, creating personalized activities, and tracking student progress.
So the product evolved from a simple lesson generator into a more complete lesson preparation workspace for ESL teachers.
Would love to hear feedback from teachers, tutors, and anyone working in online education ๐
I've had a good experience with Lesson Mate so far. It helps me stay organized across students and takes some of the mental load out of planning future lessons.
