We built Lesson Mate because we noticed that many ESL teachers and tutors spend an enormous amount of time preparing lessons every week. Especially for 1:1 online classes where every student has different goals, interests, grammar gaps, and English levels.
Most AI tools we tested were either too generic, too classroom-focused, or generated content that still required a lot of manual fixing afterward.
Our goal with Lesson Mate was to create something specifically for independent ESL teachers and online tutors: a tool that helps reduce prep time while still allowing teachers to fully customize and control the lesson.
During development, one thing became very clear: teachers don’t want AI to replace their teaching style. They want help with the repetitive parts: structuring lessons, generating exercises, adapting content to CEFR levels, creating personalized activities, and tracking student progress.
So the product evolved from a simple lesson generator into a more complete lesson preparation workspace for ESL teachers.
