Leica LUX is the first professional photo app developed by a camera manufacturer. The innovative app sets a new standard in smartphone photography, letting you take pictures with the iconic Leica Look – using your iPhone.
After the launch of Process Zero from Halide, I thought it was interesting to discover that Leica, renowned for their hardware, found it necessary to launch an app for the iPhone, presumably because iPhone 16 devices are going to go hard at becoming a higher end photography device.
The best camera is the one in your pocket as they say, no?
But can this app really compete with expensive cameras? Some say no.
What do you think?

Interesting take on the Leica LUX app! 🤔 Given that Leica is known for their hardware, do you think this app can truly capture the essence of what makes their cameras so iconic? Will it provide the same level of controls and features found in their standalone products? I wonder how it stacks up against Process Zero from Halide in terms of usability and photo quality. Also, are there any specific features that stand out for you? Would love to hear more thoughts!

This app seems interesting but it makes me wonder, why not just invest in a real Leica camera if you're after the iconic look, do we really need more phone apps doing this stuff, what's next, will it ever support Android or is it just another iPhone exclusive toy?

I get that a lot of people are excited about manual camera controls on their iPhones, but isn't this just taking away from the experience of using an actual Leica camera?, I mean sure the app might give you that "Leica Look" but isn't part of the charm of those cameras the camera itself?, would love to see if they plan to add more intuitive features or maybe updates that integrate better with other photography apps

Found the app while I was scrolling through some ads, kinda surprised it's from Leica, but do we really need another photo app on our phones, it's cool you can get the Leica Look, but maybe focus on making it more user-friendly, any chance of adding some unique filters or features that other apps don't have?

Stumbled on this app through a friend's recommendation tbh I get the whole Leica quality on your phone thing but can an app really give the same feel as an actual Leica camera? maybe it's trying too hard and will there be updates for things like better low light shots?

Found this on an ad while scrolling, curious if this can really match those high-end cameras y'know, maybe adding more editing features would make it better, any plans for that?
