LegoGPT by CMU researchers generates physically stable & buildable LEGO designs from text prompts using an LLM. Includes a new dataset, texturing, and physics-aware checks. Code, models & dataset are open source.

Hi everyone!
Check out LegoGPT from CMU researchers. It’s an AI that designs LEGO models from your text prompts, and the cool part is these designs are actually stable and buildable.
So, unlike some 3D tools, LegoGPT makes sure your LEGO creations won't just fall over. It uses an LLM trained on their new open dataset of stable designs (StableText2Lego) and has physics checks during generation to keep things standing. They've even shown robots and people building these AI-generated designs!
I guess LEGO itself probably has something similar internally, but LegoGPT is open-source and public. It's really fun to think about rebuilding all sorts of real or imagined things with actual LEGO bricks this way. And judging by the long queue for their Hugging Face Spaces demo (I waited quite a while!), it seems like a lot of people are excited about this one!
