Hi everyone, my name is Jack Lot Raghav and thanks for your interest in my project. I attended the University of Maryland where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Since then, I’ve gathered experience in the tech industry, both as a software engineer and people manager. My longest stint was 6 years spent at Amazon, where I had the opportunity to work across both the Amazon retail and AWS businesses.
Over the years I've had the opportunity to mentor many engineers, and learned a lot about the business of building software inside of complex, global environments. One thing that stuck with me were the common knowledge gaps. Absolutely critical daily skills were never taught formally. Either you'd get lucky with patient co-workers willing to spend time teaching you, or you'd parse through hours of content seeking that a-ha moment.
Git is the quintessential example of an under-taught yet heavily-utilized developer skill. LearnGit.io is my attempt to decisively close this knowledge gap.
How interactive are the animations? I'm curious about how they help simplify complex concepts.

@kyrylosilin Appreciate the support! I’m new to the whole process of launching something on ProductHunt and I’ve definitely learned some stuff. I plan on creating a free tier so folks can preview a subset of lessons. Perhaps I’ll launch again on PH when that goes live.
The lessons in LearnGit’s library essentially visualize what Git does behind the scenes (ex. moving files between the working directory, staging area and repository). Then, these visuals are animated so they interact with actual code samples on the screen. You can essentially see what Git is doing when you’ve issued commands. It’s a good way to build a mental model.

@christopher_andersona The lesson library is entirely video lessons. They all have written companion articles (with code samples from the lessons and things like that), but the video is really the star of the show.
If you’re looking for something where you (as the learner) do interactive coding exercises, I did just partner with another learning platform (CodeCrafters) which provides that. Their coding challenges are at the advanced level, but they’d be a great next step after completing LearnGit’s lessons.
