Hi everyone, I’m the developer of Lap 👋 I started building Lap because I couldn’t find a photo manager that felt fast and simple when dealing with large local photo libraries. Many modern tools are built around cloud workflows, but I personally prefer keeping everything on my own machine. Lap is designed to be local-first and fast. It focuses on smooth browsing, quick indexing, and working directly with your existing folder structure instead of locking photos into a proprietary library. The app is built with Rust, SQLite, and Tauri to keep it lightweight while still handling large collections efficiently. This is still an early project and I’m actively improving it.
