LabourKhata was inspired by a simple problem I saw around me: small contractors, mistris, and construction workers often manage attendance, wages, advances, and pending payments using notebooks or scattered WhatsApp messages. This becomes difficult when there are multiple workers, different work sites, daily attendance changes, and advances to track. Mistakes in calculations can easily lead to confusion and payment disputes. I wanted to build something simple that could replace the traditional notebook without making things complicated. That’s how LabourKhata started – a simple, offline-first app for managing workers, attendance, wages, advances, and payment balances in one place. During development, the approach evolved based on the real workflow of small contractors. Instead of building a feature-heavy business management app, I focused on making common tasks fast: adding workers, marking attendance in bulk, calculating wages, tracking advances, filtering by work site, and generating reports. The goal is not to build another complicated accounting platform. It’s to give people who currently depend on a notebook a simple digital alternative that works even without an internet connection. We’re launching LabourKhata on Product Hunt to get feedback, discover real-world use cases, and improve the product based on how contractors and small construction businesses actually work.
