What do you think? …

James Yang
Hey Product Hunt Community! We’re super excited to introduce KYZON Space today and can’t wait to hear your thoughts! Massive thanks to @kevin for hunting us! So comes the age-old question for the modern era of work. What makes good remote work? What is good remote work? What even makes remote work – work? Truth be told… We don’t really know for sure… So why…? Why then, did we bring to life a new video collaboration tool when so many already exist? Let’s start with the way we work! Call us old school or call us slow adopters… But, we simply use documents. A LOT of documents! Whether that’s Word, Sheets or PDFs. We can’t seem to get past using some type of document for our work. Yet when it comes to sharing, presenting or just editing documents when we’re not together, the experience just isn’t as simple as it should be. What we want to do is create a virtual platform where people feel truly connected and be able to work from, while only taking 3mins for it to feel like home. We don’t really know how to do that yet. The technologies just aren’t mature enough for it to work well. So, we could wait… Be like others and build yet another video calling tool that uses screenshare for everything – documents, while filling the rest with features you need a whole certification course to use properly… Or... we could design the virtual working experience we dreamed of, but build the great experience for the way we work today. And next, we’ll build the experience for the way you work. And eventually… we’ll figure out how to build the experience for the way everyone wants to work. You can see we’re clearly excited for you to try Space today and keen to hear your thoughts! We’ve also hidden an Easter Egg in our quick tour for the PH community! (Chat soon 😉)

💡 Bright idea
Interesting idea! Would be very interesting for pair programming to have something like this. Congrats on the launch!
James Yang
@jopie Interesting idea to cater for pair programming. We were just chatting about how we could make the experience of pair programming better beyond screen sharing. Maybe something like a VSCode embed? Implementation seems like the challenge. What would you say is currently the biggest challenge for remote pair programming from your perspective?
Joep van den Bogaert
@jamesyang8 making this up on the spot, but would say: seeing each other’s screens instead of 1 sharing and 1 viewing and having consistent sizing/resolution (usually have to zoom in a lot on a larger screen to make it readable on the other side to the point where you can’t efficiently work anymore).
James Yang
@jopie Are you referring to something like a remote access control feature where you can take over someone's screen for a period of time? The zooming and resizing is a problem for screen sharing since screens are rarely the same size/aspect ratio. Hmm we addressed this problem for documents by sharing documents directly to the meeting but doing that for pair coding would mean an implementation beyond screen sharing. Definitely things for us to think about!

KYZON Space is like Google Docs for meetings. No more blurry screens! Finally, a tool that helps me focus on the meeting instead of fighting with tech. 💯
James Yang
@ihuzaifashoukat Google Docs was definitely an inspiration for our experience. It's sad how their individual products are good but they just can't seem to figure out how to make them play well together. Let us know how you go with Space! What are you currently using for your meetings?
Huzaifa Shoukat
@jamesyang8 Yepp, currently we are using Google meet.
James Yang
@ihuzaifashoukat Nice, Google Meets is a solid choice. Are you using it part of the Google workspace subscription or the free version? Any issues that would drive you to seek out other options?
Angelina Nguyen
@ihuzaifashoukat I personally prefer Meets over the alternatives. But their lack of file/document interaction beyond screen sharing was an issue for us. :(
Huzaifa Shoukat
@jamesyang8 We are Using it at free tier It works Great :)
Jonny Miles
congrats on the launch! 🚀 I wasn't clear from the description/site... are you able to use any document editor with this? Notion, Google Docs etc? Same with presentations, Keynote, Pitch?
James Yang
@jonnymiles Thanks for the support. At this stage we support the common files types .docx, .xls, .ppt, .pdf and image and video formats which opens in our own customised editor. We've also integrated DropBox and OneDrive as the two major file sharing providers with Google Drive and Box in the works. What are you using at the moment for your online meetings and what would a new platform have to do for you to consider switching over?

Congrats on the launch! Another great tool to make remote work smoother. My cat's gonna be thrilled - fewer excuses for me to leave the house now 😅
James Yang
@simonas_kauzonas Haha as they say. Happy cat, happy life ;) Excited to hear your thoughts on our platform :) How are you finding the balance between in-person and remote work?
Simon🍋
@jamesyang8 That's right! :) Remote work is fine for me personally, but I still prefer in-person meetings. There's just something about real life interactions that can't be replicated on a screen. That creative tension in the room is hard to capture on a call. Kyzon looks great for collaboration though. We're actually doing a remote work session with friends this Sunday. Might give Kyzon a try and see if it can bridge that gap a bit.
James Yang
@simonas_kauzonas Yeh I hear you. The connection and interactions you get with physical meetings is hard to replica online. I personally want to see virtual meetings be able to bring true human connection into the experience. Maybe that can be achieved when VR/AR technology gets more advanced. Do you have any experience with this tech? Look forward to hearing how you guys go on Sunday. If you dont mind me asking, how do your typical remote working sessions go?

That's impressive how a product with 300+ upvotes on a launch day ends up with 1,344 upvotes to the end of the month! Could you share your secret of such unbelievable success?
James Yang
@viktor_surkov Yeh we didn't launch very well. Came abit less prepared for our launch than we probably should've... To be frank, we were abit at loss on what to do haha. We kind of sat there for a couple of days debating whether to leave our PH launch at that... We believe we have a decent product. So it's been about being more active on PH and getting the word out there :) Buzzabout is a cool product by the way. When using it, is it better to keep the search queries shorter to more keywords like 'Zoom pricing' or are sentence based prompts like 'Is Zoom's pricing too expensive for businesses?' likely to provide better search results?
Scar Qin
Congrats on the launch of KYZON Space! This platform seems like a great step toward making remote collaboration more seamless, especially with how document-heavy teams can be. I'm curious—how does it handle real-time document collaboration during video calls? Would love to hear more about that!
James Yang
@scar_qin Thanks for the wishes and interest. In its simplest form, we allow users to either upload documents or connect their existing file sharing platforms (Dropbox and OneDrive) and share their documents for live collaboration - no screen share needed. The experience is that documents can be edited in real-time without the need for app switching. Would love to hear your feedback on the user experience :)
