Ten months ago, I embarked on a solo trip around Europe. I brought my computer with me, not thinking I was going to use it too much. But then, an idea hit me.
I wanted a travel app that would track every little thing I did on my trip without having to use a bunch of different apps. That's how I came up with Kulas.
I wanted an app that tracks every photo, every expense (no matter what currency), and every activity, whether it's a concrete plan you've made or just an idea you want to save, like a TikTok link or something else you saw online.
If you're going on a long trip, I wanted the app to track every destination separately, every person you've met along the way, and then, when you finish, give you a recap of your entire adventure, just like Spotify Wrapped does for your music.
But Kulas isn't just about tracking things. I want it to become something people actually use throughout their travels.
I want Kulas to be the app that people open before every trip to start planning their adventures. I want people in hostels to join trips together with people they met just an hour ago. I want people traveling together to have one place where they can share their photos, track their expenses, and plan their activities.
I want it to become such a common thing that when someone goes on a trip, they don't even think twice about using Kulas.
If one day this app makes me millions, then obviously I'd be really happy, and I'd more than welcome it. But that's not the reason I built Kulas.
I built it because I love having an idea and actually doing something with it. There's something so exciting about imagining a feature, designing it, building it, and then seeing it actually work.
My dream is to build something so big, so useful, and so cool that millions of people use it. Something I can proudly say I created myself, with all the features I came up with and all the designs I made.
I want Kulas to become a part of traveling, something that brings people together, helps them organize their adventures, and gives them a way to look back at everything they've experienced.
That's why I built Kulas, and that's what I hope it becomes.
