You plugged the cable in, but you are still on Wi-Fi, and nothing on screen tells you. Konechi asks the Mac which connection is actually carrying your traffic and shows it in the menu bar, with a character who is on top form on a cable, doing fine on Wi-Fi and out of energy offline. Click her for the network name, IP address, link speed and live traffic. Turn on a VPN and she adds a padlock while still showing which link does the work underneath. No Dock icon, no account. Free and open source.
