I'm an Edinburgh graphic designer and the founder of DeadCoolApps. KlipZi City started as a late Sunday-night experiment: could I turn the arcade games I grew up with into a playable 3D browser city? With Astra, I had a first playable prototype in 37 minutes. That changed the ambition from a quick experiment to a city I could keep building and testing. I added taxi runs, paper deliveries, ghost hunting and other city jobs, then spent days improving the features and polish. People can play without an account or download. The project has also grown to include optional named residents and brand placements through a separate website. The 37 minutes was the starting point, not the finished game. Astra shortened the distance between an idea and something I could actually play, test and improve, which let me attempt a much broader project than the original prototype.

Hi, I’m Simon, a graphic designer and the founder of DeadCoolApps and KlipZi in Edinburgh. Late on Sunday 6 September, I asked ChatGPT to help me build the kind of ridiculous city game I wanted to play. Thirty-seven minutes later I had a playable prototype. Then I kept going. That first version was the starting point. More prompts, testing and fixes turned it into KlipZi City: taxi runs, paper rounds, ghost shifts and plenty of opportunities to get distracted. It’s free to play in your browser. No account or download. I’m sharing it both as a game and as a practical example of what a designer can build with AI. The AI wrote code; I decided what to try and kept testing what came back. Give it a spin and tell me which job you tried first, or where it fell over. Both are useful. 😂
