👋 Hey Product Hunt! I'm Levin, creator of Klakk. THE BACKSTORY: I'm a developer who LOVES mechanical keyboards. That satisfying click-clack helps me focus and makes coding feel... fun? But here's the problem: • My $300 Cherry MX keyboard was too loud for Zoom calls • My roommate complained about late-night typing • Coffee shops gave me "the look" • My beloved keyboard was gathering dust I tried everything: silent switches ($80), o-rings ($12), dampening mats ($25). Nothing worked without killing the experience I loved. Then I had a realization: Why silence the keyboard? Just move the sound to my headphones. THE SOLUTION: Klakk plays mechanical keyboard sounds through your AirPods/headphones while you type on ANY keyboard. Physical typing is silent to others, but YOU hear every satisfying click. After 3 months of building and testing: ✅ 500+ users ✅ 4.8/5 rating ✅ Zero noise complaints ✅ Can finally code anywhere TECHNICAL DETAILS (for the nerds 🤓): • Native Swift/SwiftUI (no Electron bloat) • <10ms latency using CoreAudio optimization • 14 sound packs recorded from real mechanical keyboards • Apple Silicon optimized: <1% CPU, ~50MB RAM • Completely local processing - zero data collection WHO IT'S FOR: If you've ever loved a mechanical keyboard but couldn't use it because of the noise... this is for you. • Remote workers on endless video calls • Students in quiet libraries • Writers in coffee shops • Late-night developers • Anyone who misses the click TRY IT FREE: 3-day trial, no credit card required. If you love typing as much as I do, I'm confident you'll love it. SPECIAL LAUNCH OFFER: Use code PRODUCTHUNT for 20% off (valid for 48 hours) 🎉 I'll be here all day answering questions! Ask me anything about the tech, the journey, or mechanical keyboards in general. P.S. - If Klakk solves a problem for you, I'd love your upvote! 🙏 Website: https://tryklakk.com Twitter: @TryKlakk

@TryKlakk  @levindong WOW! For me, this gives me the noise I want without having the keyboard. Not because of noise issues, but for when I have long nails which make it difficult to use my mechanical keyboard so I have to opt for a standard one. Some feedback i hope can help:

- I can still feel a bit of latency, especially when I use space or backspace.
- I hope that in the next iteration there's more control on the volume rather than 3 options as a medium Cherry Black feels like a different volume level to medium Cherry Red.

Since mechanical keyboards have so many customisation elements, I'm looking forward to how else you can replicate that!

Hey Ysabelle Margallo! 🙌

WOW, thank you so much for this thoughtful feedback – and what a unique use case!

I never thought about the long nails scenario, but it makes perfect sense.

Love hearing about creative ways people use Klakk!

Re: your feedback (taking notes 📝):

Latency on Space/Backspace:

This is super helpful. These keys do have different timing characteristics

in the system, and I'm actively working on optimizing their response.

Would you be open to testing a beta build? I'd love to get your feedback

on improvements.

Volume Control:

You're absolutely right – the 3-level system is too limiting, and different

sound packs do have varying baseline volumes. I'm planning to add:

- Granular volume slider (0-100%)

- Per-pack volume normalization

- Individual key volume adjustment (advanced settings)

This is moving up my priority list based on your feedback!

Future Customization:

I'm so excited about this too! On the roadmap:

- Custom key-to-sound mapping

- Adjustable pitch/tone per key

- Import your own sound packs

- Per-application sound profiles

The vision is to bring mechanical keyboard-level customization to the

sound experience.

Thank you again for the detailed feedback – users like you make the

product better! 🚀

Any other features you'd love to see?

Ysabelle Margallo

@TryKlakk  @levindong Hi Levin, glad to hear my feedback helped! And yes, I'm open to testing the beta builds for you. Just let me know the next steps. Thanks!
