I dunno. Looks pretty but not sure I want all my eggs in one basket? What happens if I can't login one day???
Blas Gomez
@jonbride I am taking manual backups to my laptop now and then as a 'just in case' fail safe measure for now.
Chris Tomlinson
@jonbride When disconnected or somewhere with poor network reliability, most online password managers stop working. With Kee Vault you can still access your passwords and other credentials (such as that long cryptic WiFi code to get reconnected!). The same applies if the Kee Vault service is broken when you need to sign in. We'll be aiming for 100% availability but everything on the internet suffers down-time eventually and Kee Vault's unique design means that when this happens you can still sign in to get your passwords. If you're worried about forgetting your Kee Vault password, it's true that if this happens you've lost everything but it is very easy to create a secure passphrase that you can remember completely reliably. If passphrases are a new idea to you, there's lots more information at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pa... Does that answer your question?

Congratulations on the launch @luckyrat! I've been using Kee Vault for a month (long time KeeFox user) and it's working well but I noticed that a few times it takes a long time to unlock. It appears random, it's almost instant most of the time. Should I report a bug on GitHub?
Chris Tomlinson
@new_user_143b06e01e How long is a long time? If we're talking 5-10 seconds then that's expected once in a while. Our servers have an "energy saving" mode which can cause that sort of delay if you're the unlucky one that has to wait for them to "wake up". This should happen less and less as more people sign up and start using the service. Post some more details on the community forum if it's a lot longer than that or if you spot any other pattern for us to investigate (GitHub is best once we have a clearer idea that there actually is a bug and what we'll do to try to fix it): https://forum.kee.pm/c/kee-vault/

@luckyrat I guess around 5 seconds yeah so it's not too bad but just noticeably slower. Will post on the forum if it doesn't get better after the launch.

Congrats on the launch! I've been using it during early access and it's been great so far. I can't seem to get the 50% promo working on my end here.
Ronnie S
@obert_kong If you're on the trial, it should automatically adjust to the 50% off once your trial period is over. THis is the case for me once I look at my Kee Vault account. I still have 7 days of trial left and then it says it will renew at 50% off.
Obert Kong
@ronnie_s I still have about 50+ days of trial still. I did went into my subscription detail and the supporter yearly still states £20.00. Not sure how to apply the yearly discount as I would like to support the developer.
Chris Tomlinson
@obert_kong Can you sign in to Kee Vault via clicking on the link on this page? If so, and assuming you already updated to the latest version if prompted so you can see the special offer message, it should be automatically applied. I can look into the details and ensure you get the right discount applied if you send a secure message from within Kee Vault.
Obert Kong
@luckyrat I was able to get it to work but it's now at the £12.00 :-(.

Went to try, but I don't understand the difference with KeeWeb. This basically a copy/paste of another Open Source project. https://keeweb.info/
Chris Tomlinson
@nicolas_bages Around 1/4 - 1/3 of the Kee Vault code running in your browser is the same as KeeWeb. Much of the core visual structure is derived from KeeWeb so it probably looks much more similar than that on the surface. KeeWeb offers an attractive user interface that offered us a sensible starting point for building out all the improvements to offline access, mobile use, sync, desktop browser auto-fill, etc.

I've been a keepass2/dropbox/keepass2android user for some time and it works well but requires a bit of technical setup and knowhow so I hesitate to recommend it to some users. Even so, it's getting slicker as now Android offers to fill in my passwords from keepass2android. I also used kee for awhile but found it a complicated integration with my desktop (linux) keepass2 app. Occasionally, the integration broke when I did various updates so haven't used it for awhile. I'm excited about your new service and want to understand more about the local storage. If I can point others to a keepass-based solution that's easy to use that would be great! Right now I have a .kdbx file that I manage and can open with keepass2 or any other client so it's pretty clear to me where, what it is, and how it's stored. I created a db with your service but can't find a local .kdbx file that it's running from except in my /tmp directory when the app is open. I found KeeVault's code, which is great, but what happens if I'm unable to access your app to export a DB?
Sean Hill
Just checked and it seems the /tmp .kdbx file is only present when I try to do an export.
