Verified fishing — cryptographic proof every catch is real

Fishing is the world's biggest sport and it has no referee. Kala is the trust layer: AI, GPS + a cryptographic seal verify every catch and mint a shareable FishCard. Verified-only leaderboards. Free to log, pay only to verify. Verified or nah.

Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Gian. I built Kala because I got tired of fishing being the only competitive thing I do where there's no proof anyone is telling the truth. Golf has a handicap. Tennis has UTR. Chess has ELO. Fishing has "trust me bro" — and in tournaments where there's real money on the line, that gap is a genuine problem. (If you followed the 2022 Lake Erie walleye tournament where two guys stuffed lead weights and fish fillets into their catch to win — that's the failure mode. There's just no referee on the water.)
So we built the referee. You start a verified session, log a catch, and the app does the species ID (419 species), the measurement, the GPS, and a cryptographic seal — then mints a FishCard you can share instead of a blurry tape-measure photo. Leaderboards are verified-only.
A few honest notes:
- It's free to log catches. You only spend credit (BAIT) when you submit for verification — and you can earn that credit back by reviewing other people's catches, which is weirdly satisfying.
- We're early. If you find something broken, tell me here — I'll fix it between answering these comments.
Happy to go deep on the verification stack (the crypto + AI + community-consensus part is the fun engineering). Ask me anything.
