People always boast about their travel experiences. But why just boast about experiences when you can also boast about your awesome little luggage friend? Yess!! Hello July
@stephen_colman hey Stephen! There was an issue when the airlines and TSA standards changed to stop all batteries from being stored in the cargo area - due to the fact that if something happens, like a phone exploding, it's difficult to access and resolve. Batteries, like powerbanks or your phone, are allowed in as carry-on. We've also made our powerbank ejectable, should there be any desire to check in your luggage too.
Love this design. Seriously beautiful piece. And props to them for backing it with a lifetime warranty. Question for Athan, if the polycarbonate is so unbreakable why do you need the aluminium bumpers?
@glenn_rogers appreciate the love Glenn! Lifetime warranty anywhere in the world too, so if you have an increment in Paris we’ll save you with speed. Regarding the bumpers, polycarbonate is a super bouncy and strong material that is lightweight and perfect for luggge. Whenever there is a fall, if the case lands on the flat side the impact is spread out, the PC bounces, and damage minimised. But if lands on a corner, the impact is focused on one area and chances of breakage or popping in are higher. The aluminium bumpers reinforce that strength and allow for a lot of that impact to be absorbed by the metal.
@barrieseppings thanks Barry! Glad you like the outside of the case. The inside is just as beautiful. We've covered it in a gorgeous nylon lining, and included a hidden water and smell-resistant laundry bag. We've also designed our own July Y-Strap Compression System that provides a heavy-duty strap that pulls down to create more space in your case. There's also a connected pouch to store your smaller valuables. It's minimal and lovely to use.

Loving the look of the suitcase and how much effort has gone into testing it! Will you be releasing new sizes in the future? Any thoughts on the global tracking system / unique ID used by companies like Delsey?
@pete_saunders Thanks for the love Pete! Will definitely be releasing bigger check-in sizes in the near future. Stay tuned. As for the unique ID element, we really like this idea! Definitely will workshop it in with a few other lost-case scenario planning.
@ned_dwyer Thanks Ned! Welcome to our Founders Club also, excited to have you in the July family. Our Carry-On actually has 36L capacity. How we got there is essentially a math game in finding the sweet spot for case dimensions (a size and shape that's comfortable to carry vs big enough to store what you need vs airline regulations and standards). We tried to maximise the capacity while maintaining a small carry profile.

Hey Athan, what was the testing process for these amazing suitcases? I know they are focussed on carry-on but would they hold up with the rough conditions if stowed away? My suitcases are forever breaking!
@lucy_downs Hey Lucy! We've put these cases through hell and back. They're made from 100% new polycarbonate (PC) hardshell case (we've been dropping that it's aerospace-grade in case that's your thing). We did a lot of user outreach and found people who have used PC cases in the past have found the biggest issue was the corners - that they get damaged easily and pressed it. So we decided to change that. We added anodised aluminium bumpers to the corners to give the case super strength on certain falls. PC is a super bouncy and strong material that is lightweight and perfect for luggage. So far our testing has proven its strength, but we can't wait to start giving it to others to use in the real world and continue to give us feedback on what they want!
