Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I own a JBL Flip 7 and kept reaching for my phone just to change the EQ while working on my Mac. JBL's app is phone-only, so I built JBLControl: a native menu bar app that talks to the speaker over Bluetooth, the same way the JBL Portable app does. What you get: • Battery, model, color and firmware at a glance • JBL's EQ presets plus a 7-band custom EQ with a live response curve • One-click switching between nearby JBL speakers • Launch at login, battery % in the menu bar, low-battery alerts The fun part was the protocol. It builds on the community's reverse-engineering work (openjbl), and JBL speakers rotate their Bluetooth address every few minutes, so the app has to recognize one speaker under several identities. I only own a Flip 7, so most other models are in beta. If you have a Charge, Xtreme, Go, Clip, Pulse or Boombox, the app's one-click diagnostics report (••• → Copy Diagnostics) helps me verify it.
