Hello Product Hunt community! 👋

I'm excited to introduce JatayuOS 1.0 (Udaan), a free and open-source Linux distribution developed in India.

The idea behind JatayuOS was to create a Linux desktop that feels familiar, useful, and welcoming, particularly for people who are trying Linux for the first time.

Rather than building everything from scratch, I chose Debian 13 (Trixie) as the foundation and KDE Plasma for its flexibility and familiar desktop experience.

Along the way, I worked on custom branding, the desktop layout, the installation experience, and applications designed to make everyday tasks more convenient.

Some highlights of this first release include:

- Aarambh, a custom welcome application.
- Jatayu Tools, bringing together useful applications and resources.
- A personalized desktop and wallpaper changer.
- Firefox, LibreOffice, APT, and Flatpak.
- A graphical installer that works without an internet connection.

JatayuOS 1.0 is already available for download. This is its introduction to the Product Hunt community, not a new ISO release.

I know there is plenty of room to improve, and independent feedback is especially valuable at this stage.
